Why Does Astrology Not Work For Me?
Hello folks, today I actually want to speak about a topic that I've been meaning to speak about for a while now. Before I get started, if you need to contact me or find me on social media, I have put the links in the description box below and yes, I am still doing readings for those of you who have asked about it.
So let's get started.
Understanding Astrology's Role in Our Lives
If your focus is always on identifying yourself as a Gemini, Taurus, or any other sign, and you keep asking, "What is happening for me?" while constantly following the planets around, then astrology can easily become a crutch in your life. If your goal is merely entertainment, this is fine. Otherwise, you will constantly be disappointed.
However, if your focus shifts to using your chart to understand the themes and focus of your incarnation, how you can meet your purpose, where you can serve others, and when to take action or do nothing—which is very important—then astrology can serve you well.
Ultimately, even if astrology is working well for you in this way, your aim should be to transcend this space. Over-reliance on planetary movements means you get stuck in the bondage of the world because you’re always planning your thoughts and actions around where Mars, Saturn, etc., are located.
Trusting Yourself Unconditionally
How do you transcend this reliance on astrology? You have to trust yourself unconditionally and completely. This takes practice—practice to sharpen your intuition and a devoted spiritual practice can be very helpful. When you hear that inner voice for any answer you need, you will hear it loud and clear and you won't doubt yourself.
Meeting with an Astrologer
Analyzing an experience is very different from living out that same experience. No astrologer, no matter how good, can tell you about your life with better accuracy than your own observations. Life plays out in patterns for everyone, and they will keep repeating. Only you can tell how you responded in the past and how you will respond in the present.
Your response could stay the same if you want a similar outcome, and that is sometimes the right thing to do. Your emotions will give you a clue, even the negative ones. Negative emotions contain a lot of information and should not be dismissed quickly. Your intuition can also guide you if you detach yourself from the situation for a bit.
A good astrologer’s experience will also color the reading they have with you. If their life experience is limited by age or lack of knowledge, this will reflect in the reading. You will feel it and know which parts resonate with you and which don't. Always trust your own intuition; you need not be receptive to everything the astrologer tells you.
Influence of the Astrologer's Lifestyle
The astrologer's lifestyle and environment will impact their state of mind and thus their predictions. If they have a poor lifestyle (hard drinking, partying, etc.), this will color the reading. They could see you have the seventh lord in the twelfth house and predict divorce, but they didn't see the five other factors suggesting your spouse will be from abroad.
Sometimes, the astrologer might project their own experiences onto your reading. Rarely is something impossible by virtue of one or two planetary alignments. It’s important to see confluence in a chart to be confident about a prediction, which requires time and multiple perspectives.
You could also be projecting during the reading. If you seek guidance while feeling low and hopeless, the astrologer might subconsciously tailor their prediction to match your thoughts. Timing is crucial; if you’re not in a good phase, you may not get the right advice. Wait for a better time to revisit an astrologer.
Managing Your Expectations
If an astrologer's prediction sounds completely off-base, trust yourself and disregard it. Don’t hesitate to ask about their success rate, especially if they make bold, negative predictions. A good astrologer will consider your background, education, and culture to make accurate predictions.
Ultimately, manage your expectations when speaking to an astrologer. Don’t expect them to know everything. If you gain one or two insights that make a positive internal shift, that’s enough. Go with what feels right to you at that time in your life.
The Real Purpose of Astrology
Astrology is not about reinventing the wheel. It’s about interpreting what is already there and modifying it for contemporary usage. Some astrologers come up with fanciful interpretations, but they often lack substance. Astrology should uncover and unravel life patterns and show timing.
Understanding why you chose your path empowers you. Quick-fix remedies don’t work long-term. Remedies should be part of a daily routine to cultivate a habit and change your mindset. Astrology originated in the ashrams of rishis and is a bridge between material knowledge and divine knowledge.
Astrology should be used in conjunction with a daily sadhana (spiritual practice). Those with a guru and a disciplined practice understand this intuitively. Unfortunately, fear often motivates people to seek astrologers, and some astrologers exploit this fear to keep clients hooked.
The Four Types of Devotees
The Gita describes four types of devotees:
Artha: Seeks relief from pain and suffering, often visiting religious places and participating in rituals.
Artharthi: Prays for wealth, power, and sensual pleasures, often seeking quick-fix remedies.
Jijnasu: A learned scholar seeking truth, engaged in meditation and sadhana.
Gyani: Reflective about life, accepts things as they are, and ponders the higher purpose, often striving for moksha (liberation).
You may fall into each category at different times in your life. Ultimately, miracles only happen for those who believe in miracles.
Hope you enjoyed that. Feel free to leave your comments and don’t forget to hit the subscribe button. Thank you folks, cheers.
